What runs before you answer
One thing, and it is not analytics: a small script reads your saved theme preference so the page does not flash white before it turns dark. It stores a single value, clarity-theme, on your device and sends it nowhere. The analytics code is not downloaded, not run, and sets nothing until you accept.
What runs if you accept
Mixpanel, a product analytics service. It records page views and clicks on this website, and it stores a device identifier so that your second visit is recognised as the same visitor rather than a new one. Mixpanel receives it in the United States. It does not read your study material, which never touches this website in the first place: the app and the web app are separate from these marketing pages.
What we do with it
We look at which pages people arrive on, which ones they leave from, and how many go on to the App Store or the web app. That is the whole purpose: working out which parts of this site are worth keeping.
If you decline
Your answer is stored on this device as clarity-consent, the Mixpanel code is never downloaded, and nothing reaches Mixpanel. We do not ask again on this browser. Clearing your site data clears the answer too, so the banner will come back.
Changing your mind
Clear this site data in your browser settings and the banner returns on your next visit, with both answers available again.
